The secret to getting indexed in Yahoo involves constant updates to your site. The updates, however, have to be done on both the site and through Real Simple Syndication (RSS) feeds. Here’s how you go about getting indexed.

The first step is to start a blog for your site. You can build a blog on your site or use a free service. I prefer blogger.com. Once you have the blog up with content posted, you must turn the blog into a real simple syndication feed. Again, you can use your own system. I prefer to use a free service because I really don’t have the time to waste on such things.

If you have a yahoo email account, you need to access you’re My Yahoo page. If you don’t have an account, get one! Once you are on the My Yahoo page, do the following:

1. Click the “add content” link in the upper left hand under the search box.

2. When the new page opens, click the “Add RSS by URL” link on the right of the “Find Content” search box in the upper section of the page.

3. Enter the exact link provided by Feedburner and click “add.” Do NOT add the url for your blog.

4. Click the “My Yahoo” tab at the top of the page and refresh the page.

At this point, you should see your feed at the bottom of the page. If you don’t, be patient. Yahoo is sometimes slow, so just try it again in an hour or so. When the feed is added, you should see the name of your blog and the title of each post under it. Yahoo can take up to a day to add new posts, so don’t panic if they don’t show up immediately.

Once you’ve completed the above, Yahoo will follow the links in the blog and index the pages on your site.

Two very well respected marketers, Anik Singal and Rosalind Gardner have finally released a training program, which I think is the easiest way ANYONE can get started blogging online - Blog Classroom.

Their entire goal is to teach you how you can get everything you need set-up in just minutes and then even MAINTAIN your blog in just minutes a day. They recently ran a COMPLETELY free pre-course that had well over 1,000 comments on it from students who were amazed at how easily they were getting their blog businesses started. Now, they’re releasing over 100+ videos and a 4-week Webinar coaching group to basically reveal every detail on how they run their blog businesses.

Look - blogging is big business. People are making serious income blogging online. If you’ve always wanted to work from home, if you’ve struggled making money online, or if you’ve never even considered it - give Blog Classroom a try. You’ll be glad that you did.

How to clean harmful files and adult content from your PC ???
I am online all the time, and there are times when I accidentally come across an adult website or another site that installs harmful material onto my computer. It is annoying, it hurts your computer, and it sends out information about you to sites that you do not want to attract. Here is how you can get rid of adult content and harmful files on your PC.

  1. First of all, we want to use the tools features in the web browser you use to clear out bad sites that have been visited and images that they have left on your computer. If you have seen the image, it is on your hard drive.
  2. READ IF YOU USE INTERNET EXPLORER:
    Ste
ps 2-5 are for Internet Explore users. Click on the "Tools" menu and click internet options for Internet explorer web browsers. There are three delete options that you can click on to clear out all of the cached items, and we will walk through these.
  3. Click on "Delete Files" to get rid of all of the cached images on your computer that are automatically saved to your hard drive when you browse a website.
  4. Click on "Clear History" to get rid of the listing of all of the visited web addresses you have viewed on your computer.
  5. Additionally, you will want to click on "Clear Cookies" to remove any marking or data files that the site placed on your machine to identify you as a viewer and log your information.
  6. IF YOU USE FIREFOX:
If you are using Firefox, then you will click on "Clear Private Data" and select the check boxes of the items you want to delete. If the items you want to remove are not listed, then you can really get into the details by clicking on "Tools", then "options", then the "Privacy" item to find what you want to clear. You should also clear your cookies.
  7. Now we want to clear our search engine histories as well. To do this, you need to clear the forms on your internet browser. It is also a good idea to tunr off the AutoComplete as well so that your computer will not guess the items you want to search and return a nasty result or page that has bad files and images. You can take care of both of these in your Tools Menu for your web browser. Sometimes you have to actually clear your index.dat file. To find this file, do a search in the start menu icon and type in the file name as "index.dat"
  8. Even after you follow all of these steps, there may still be some harmful files and images on your computer that you can not erase. If you want to get rid of everything, I recommend the use of these programs that will take care of everything listed and then some. They costs some money, but they are great programs:

Always keep your keywords as descriptive and as relevant to your subject matter as possible. In other words, the search engines follow whatever you write, they don't know what your article is about. The search engine crawlers will take a snapshot of exactly what you write. If you have used the correct descriptive keywords to make your point, your audience will have no trouble finding what you have written.

Believe me Google and Yahoo want you to find what you're looking for. When deciding on what keywords to use in any situation, I find the best strategy is to put myself in the shoes of my searching customer. I ask myself, what question would I ask, to find what I'm selling, and how would I phrase it. When you can answer that question, your customers should have no problems finding you.

For instance, if you are selling coffee online and you want your customers to find you, you could advertise "coffee for sale", but when your prospective customer types "coffee for sale" into the search engine, they will get millions of results returned, and finding you in the results is a joke. However, if you advertise "Mike's Aroma Blast Kona Coffee", your customers will find you every time.

It doesn't matter whether you are selling something online or searching for something to buy, using relevant keywords makes all the difference between success and failure.

SEO myth: Meta tags

Posted by Rajiv Pandey in , , , , , , , , ,

The general reasoning behind people or companies still wanting or attempting to use meta tags is: "Meta tags will make all the difference for our web site" or "We have heard or read of companies that their web sites were placed way on top because of meta tags". Our response to such statements is, four or five years ago, it could have been true somewhat, even if some people don't exactly agree on that statement.

At the beginning of the Internet, meta tags were originally incorporated in a site as an attempt to better assist webmasters. They were also included to help search engines discover what their site was all about. Well, as one might expect, it didn't take very long that some people found a way to short-circuit the system as it were.

Some actually tried and successfully got around in abusing this technique by writing useless keywords into their meta tags in hopes to trick the search engines to rank them higher. Today, and because of all this abuse, most major search engines, especially Google, are placing less and less importance in the presence or absence of meta tags and their content.

Keywords are basic raw material used in Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Keyword selection must be done using Keyword Research where we use special tools to find out a list of Keywords (search terms) searched by targeted audience, recently. Keyword can be single word, two or three words, multiple words and theme based.

Basically There are 3 Types of Keywords:-

  1. Keyword of Single word:- Keyword of Single word helps in bringing huge traffic but these terms are mostly not relevant these days, as, searchers mostly use two or three keyword to find out their required information.
  2. Keyword of Multiple words:- Keyword of Multiple words is used to target a specific traffic, which leads to high sale, top position in search result listing as well as improves page rank competition. Keyword of Multiple words are known as Specific Keyword where we target a specific audience & not general searcher. Keyword of Multiple words helps to target a specific page for a specific audience.
  3. Keywords based on Theme:- Keywords based on Theme are used in each page of web site to focus on a specific topic correlated to a targeted topic or idea . Keywords based on Theme effectively contribute in growth of informative pages for its site focusing on different related topics.

Modern SEO Techniques

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) are methods that aid in the improvement of a website's ranking in the listings of search engines. There are different kinds of listings that are displayed in the results pages of search engines, such as paid inclusion, pay-per-click advertisements, and organic search results. Utilizing SEO can increase the quantity of site visitors that acts on the activity that the site intends.

Here are some of the most useful ones---

1. Title tags should be written in a creative way. It should be created with the strongest keyword targets as the basis. It is the most important tag of a web site when it comes to optimization. The specific keyword of the web site that is being optimized should be the one that is placed in the title tag. It goes without saying that every site should have its own title tag.

2. Carefully select the words and phrases to be assigned to Alt tags. Alt tags are not really mandatory, but they are provided for text browsers because images do not get displayed in web browsers, and it is the Alt tags that give information to the users about its significance. The rule in Alt tags is fairly simple: only key phrases or key words should be put in Alt tags, overdoing may cause a site to disappear in search results or get banned from it indefinitely.

3. Manage keyword density. Keyword density is the percentage occupied by keywords or keyword phrases in a web page. Ideally, keywords are used once in the title tag, the heading tag, and in bold text. Keywords should be placed at the top of the page, and phrases can be inserted in every paragraph, depending on how long the paragraph is.

4. Determine the appropriate page size for the site. Speed is a vital element to the success of a site, and it important to both online visitors and the search engines. It is recommended to limit web pages under 15K.

5. Create rich themes for the pages. Search engines are increasingly getting particular about themes. Content should be created as often as possible, and the pages should be maintained to 200 to 500 words. The content should be created in relation to the market, and should be linked to the other related content present on the site.

6. Make the site's design attractive to the viewer. All efforts in optimization will be in vain if the site is poorly designed and if its contents are hard for viewers to read. There should be more text content than HTML content in the web site. Viewers should be able to use the pages in all major browsers. It should be noted that most search engines veer away from JavaScript and Flash.

Advertisers should keep in mind that simplicity is the basis of a successful SEO campaign. Sites should be easy for viewers to locate, follow, and read, and should contain relevant content. Following the techniques above will prove worthwhile for site owners in the future.
